Paola Rech is an Italian-Brazilian children’s writer and illustrator based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Her work seeks to reclaim the essence of a childhood unhurried to end, inviting readers to explore philosophical and existential themes in a playful and sensitive way.
With over ten years of experience in the illustration market, she has participated in literary fairs in Brazil and abroad, including CCXP and the Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy. Throughout her career, she has collaborated as a cover illustrator for independent authors and on animation projects for Mauricio de Sousa Studios and the Ayrton Senna Institute.
She is the author of While Grandma Was Sleeping (2016), independently published, and the illustrator of Sounds of the Day (2024), published by Editora Bambolê. Her most recent book, Abele and the Kingdom of Flowers (2025), published by Paroliamo Books, presents a narrative about freedom and the courage to be yourself from an early age.
She is currently studying Pedagogy at the Italo-Brazilian Catholic University Center and works as a freelance illustrator, collaborating with independent authors and publishers. When she is not creating books, Paola spends her time sewing dolls and playing the violin.
